Information for Schools

Helpful details for teachers and co-ordinators

Keith is available to visit schools once every half term to speak in Assemblies and Collective Worship.

These assemblies follow a storytelling style. Normally, Keith will retell a Bible story in an engaging way and link the story to whatever theme or value the school is focusing on during that week or term.

He is also available to teach occasional R.E. lessons, focusing on Christian themes or when a Christian visitor is needed for interviews or Q & A.

There is no charge for any of these visits, and of course, Keith is fully DBS checked. Read on for more information!

Themes and Values

Many schools have a set theme or value for each week or term. Keith is more than happy to fit in with these themes or present a one-off assembly, whichever suits the school best. The list of themes below is not exhaustive and continually expanding!

Quotes

Here are some quotes from some people who have enjoyed Keith’s storytelling!

Nobody; nobody tells a Bible story like Mr Jewell does.

Year 6 teacher

I may ask you to do a storytelling workshop for the teachers.

Headteacher

Rarely do you start the week with such a powerful message.

Year 6 teacher

I’ve got a difficult class, but they sat and listened brilliantly.  It just shows that good storytelling can compete with screens.

Year 3 teacher

I’m so pleased you go into my son’s school – and he is too!

Parent of Year 3 pupil

Your story was really good.

Letter of Recommendation

The following is taken from a letter of recommendation written by an R.E. Coordinator and Collective Worship Leader

Keith Jewell has been a regular visitor to our whole school assemblies since 2014. He engages and enthuses the children with his retelling of Bible stories. Keith has an incredible way of capturing the children’s interest, by making links to their lives and his own, which brings the religious stories to life and makes them relevant to the children today.

Keith always has a clear message for the children linked to our termly value, which we reflect on during the class assemblies for the rest of the week. Both the children and staff always look forward to his assemblies and the positive impact of his contributions is strongly felt within our school community.

The children leave Keith’s assemblies feeling positive and inspired, whilst developing a greater understanding of the Bible and its value in our lives today.
